What is the Pinterest Creator Fund? And how do you apply for it?

This post will break down everything you need to know about the Creator Fund on Pinterest!

Let’s dive in.

What is the Pinterest Creator Fund?

The Pinterest Creator Fund is a program that provides select Pinterest Creators of underrepresented groups financial and educational support to help with their content creation on Pinterest (Source).

Members of the Pinterest Creator Fund receive a financial grant, expert training, and many resources.

Pinterest says:

“During a four-week workshop, Fund members get hands-on training to help them succeed on Pinterest. Topics include making Idea Pins, taking advantage of Pinterest trends and measuring campaign success. Participants also get personalized consulting to boost their Pinterest creative strategies. And to top it off, every creator receives a financial grant of $25k in cash and ad credits.”

(Update: In March 2022, Pinterest announced that the Creator Fund is now a five-week program vs. four.)

In 2021, the Pinterest Creator Fund became one of Pinterest’s newest initiatives focused around helping its Creators, especially ones of underrepresented groups, receive the help they needed to find success on Pinterest.

Pinterest said that they were initially committed to give Creators $500,000 in cash and media throughout 2021 (Source).

Who is in the Pinterest Creator fund?

The first cohort of the Pinterest Creator Fund included 8 Pinterest Creators. The creators were:

Pinterest also opened up the Creator Fund for its second cohort!

Reportedly, Pinterest said they were searching to add 10 new Creators to the fund for the second cohort (Source).

What results can you see with the Pinterest Creator Fund?

Pinterest reported that members of the Pinterest Creator Fund have seen great results. In fact, Pinterest says:

All across the first class, creators got a lift from participating in the program. On average, Fund creators saw 2.9x more Idea Pin impressions and 72% more monthly viewers compared to their previous performance. And, combined, they gained over 24,000 new followers.

Member Anthony Gomes says that the program helped him to grow his audience and the financial assistance helped him to create high-quality content to showcase his fashion-based work (Source).

Who can join the Pinterest Creator Fund?

As of March 2022, only users from the US can join the Pinterest Creator Fund.

However, Pinterest says that:

“…we’re excited to expand the program to include underrepresented creators in Brazil and the UK later this year.”

So if you’re not from the US, the program will hopefully expand to you soon.

It’s also important to note that each cohort generally focuses on a specific niche of creators (ex. fashion and beauty). Due to this, you may not be the perfect fit for every cohort. However, you may be a great fit for a future cohort!

How do I apply for the Pinterest Creator Fund?

Do you want to apply for the Pinterest Creator fund? You can apply on Pinterest’s Creator Fund application page!

You can find the application page here.

Is the Pinterest Creator Fund still running?

As of March 2022, yes!

On March 28, 2022, Pinterest announced exciting expansions to the Pinterest Creator Fund and opened up applications for a new cohort. (And fun fact — the March 2022 cohort was sponsored by L’Oréal USA!)

In the post, Pinterest said:

“New for 2022, we’ll announce a new Fund cycle every quarter, giving even more creators access to financial resources and training.”

So it seems that the Pinterest Creator Fund will continue to be functioning (at least in the near future)!

Are there any other ways to make money on Pinterest?

The Pinterest Creator Fund only selects a small group of Creators to support, so the odds of even making it into the program are pretty slim.

Because of this, you may be wondering: Are there any other ways to make money on Pinterest?

Luckily, there are!

Other than the Creator Fund, here are some ways that you can make money on Pinterest:

  1. Promoting affiliate links on Idea Pins and other pins (be sure to read Pinterest’s affiliate guidelines)
  2. Starting and monetizing a blog (and using Pinterest for traffic)
  3. Starting a shop and promoting your products
  4. Pinterest Creator Rewards (learn more about the program here!)
  5. Brand partnerships and sponsored content
